Miniature Globe de Mariée
Miniature Globe de Mariée
The tradition of Globe de Mariée display pieces began in nineteenth-century France, when newlyweds would record the beginning of their married life together by creating a wedding dome. Souvenirs of the nuptials were placed inside for safekeeping, and the domes were prominently placed in the formal dining room of the home. The couple chose to decorate their stand with items such as mirrors, porcelain pieces, and ormolu cut-outs, as each was a symbol that told the story of the union.
These glittering miniature versions of the Globe de Mariee were lovingly created for us by an Australian artisan. Each piece is handmade, unique and would display beautifully with antique dolls as well as our artist doll creations.
