"Basset Hall" an Ensemble Kit for a Georgian Wooden

$225.00

A young lady of means in the early to mid-18th century would wear a costume consisting of a petticoat, gown and a hat or head covering. This ensemble, created for our exclusive Georgian Wooden artist dolls “Belinda Noble” and “Dido Washington” is comprised of natural linen, in a warm oatmeal hue, beautifully embroidered in an Indienne style botanical motif in mouthwatering shades of pink and violet. Trimmings include delicate linen soutache braid, crocheted lace and rich burgundy silk ribbon. The fitted bodice features a delicately seamed back, squared “court” style skirt, and fitted elbow length sleeves with a flounced cuff lined in layers of frothy crocheted lace. The lavishly embroidered petticoat matches the squared court shape of the gown. The stomacher is sewn of multiple layers of linen creating a firm texture, is overlaid with linen and embellished with a burgundy silk bow at the bust. A linen bergere style hat trimmed in linen soutache braid and dried flowers completes the stunning, period accurate look.

For your sewing pleasure, we have created a complete kit which includes everything needed to create the ensemble: a paper pattern, full instructions with helpful tips and historic details, and expertly curated materials.
