"Leontine" a Bisque Rohmer with Glass Eyes - Freshly Re-stocked!
“Mathilde” a very special china Rohmer from the Rohmer family, who now resides in the Grovian Doll Museum collection, was used to create the exclusive Carl Armstrong mold utilized for this latest variation of a classic doll from Maison Rohmer.
Fashioned not so differently from her cousin Mathilde, “Leontine” the bisque, hand blown glass-eyed version shown here, is hand-made from organic materials – porcelain, leather, wood, cotton, cork, glass and mohair – in America.
Designed to look like an antique doll, Leontine possesses details such as a stuffed leather body with an antique finish, legs that bend with the aid of the Rohmer silk ribbon and hook method for securing the legs into a sitting position, jointed knees, exquisitely modeled bisque legs, plus long, detailed bisque arms that are jointed at the shoulders. (The arms do rotate and swivel, but do not necessarily hold a pose, as per the antique originals.) Her pale bisque head features the cup and saucer neck rotation system and is beautifully painted with delicate features. A full curly mohair skin wig completes the package.
Each doll is unique and hand-made, so expect slight variations, whether it be in coloration, bisque finish, leather texture, facial painting, or body shape. A joy to costume, Leontine will help provide hours of enjoyment for the doll couturier in you.
