Based on an antique, French “Modiste” Shop found in the Grovian Doll Museum’s Collection, we have adapted it to work for the care and display of our own “Charlotte,” a jointed-knee Kestner All-bisque created by resident artist, Carl Armstrong.
Included in the “Mademoiselle Dolly” Kit is a wooden box featuring a glass “shop window” theme that features softly colored paper coverings that were taken directly from the original.
Lift the box lid to find a finished, paper-lined and Dresden paper-enhanced interior in the art nouveau taste, as well as room for Charlotte herself. There is also space for the seven ensembles with hats, plus under-garments and a separate blouse for wear under the various dresses, that you will create.
The wooden box with its hinged, wood-framed glass lid will arrive fully painted and decorated for you by the talented members of the Carmel Doll Shop Team. Inside, you will find assorted patterns, fabrics, buttons, hat forms and trims in the form of ribbons and laces required to costume Charlotte. A 29-page instruction booklet, complete with illustrations, will guide you.
